Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend released a statement on Thursday in response to the University of Notre Dame’s investigation into the sexual abuse allegations into former rector of Zahm Hall, Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C.

The statement is as follows:

“The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend recently learned of the University of Notre Dame’s decision to convene a special committee to oversee an investigation concerning Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C., and allegations of sexual misconduct while he was a rector of Zahm Hall from 1980-1997. As this is an ongoing investigation, the Diocese makes no comment as to the allegations but can confirm that Fr. King was assigned to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Lakeville from 1998-2007. The Diocese supports the decision of Notre Dame to conduct an external investigation into these allegations, will fully cooperate with those leading the investigation, and will make its own records pertaining to Fr. King available to Debevoise & Plimpton. The Diocese joins with Notre Dame to encourage anyone with additional information to contact Debevoise & Plimpton via email at [email protected].”
