ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 42-year-old man is facing multiple counts of Felony Child Molesting stemming from incidents in 2021 and 2025.

The suspect, Daniel Zimmerman, is charged with two counts of Child Molesting, as Level 1 Felonies, and three counts of Child Molesting-Fondling, as Level 4 Felonies.

Zimmerman's initial hearing was April 29.

His jury trial is scheduled for Aug. 3.

The following contains details some may find disturbing.

According to the probable cause affidavit in this case, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office received a report on Feb. 1, 2021, that Zimmerman had molested an 8-year-old girl.

The report was made by a staff member at the victim's school. The employee told authorities the victim appeared tired that day, so they spoke with her and learned Zimmerman had allegedly touched her inappropriately in her bed.

When interviewed the victim told investigators Zimmerman had touched her a few times with an open hand over her clothes.

On Aug. 6, 2025, the sheriff's office once again received report that Zimmerman had once again been molesting the victim.

A witness reported he discovered concerning texts between the victim and his daughter, who are good friends. The texts indicated Zimmerman was molesting the victim again.

On Aug. 7, 2025, the victim was interviewed. The victim informed investigators Zimmerman would spoon her with his pants down and touch her inappropriately. This includes Zimmerman allegedly touching her genitals.

The victim said she would tell Zimmerman to stop but he wouldn't stop right away.
