17-year-old driver killed in single-vehicle crash near Syracuse

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.— A 17-year-old driver died in a crash near Syracuse on August 20, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

A GMC Sierra was driving east on South County Line Road, east of CR 137 around 3 p.m. on Thursday when it went left of center and off of the north side of the road, reports said.

The Sierra, driven by a 17-year-old male from Ligonier, crashed into a tree, according to police.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.

The driver was killed in the crash and a 17-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, reports said.
