SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Zion Community Church of Christ held their 42nd annual Crop Walk today, raising money for different food pantries across Michiana.
The walk held two different routes, one being a mile down the road from the church to a nearby farmer's market, the other a four-mile-long walk to Broadway Christian Parish.
"We've walked to Broadway at Christian parish and just to walk downtown, South Bend and be in the neighborhoods so people can see us and see that it's important for us to be walking so because in other countries, people would have to walk five miles with five gallons of water," stated Chairperson of the Saint Joseph County Crop Hunger Walk Nacy Philabaum.
The donation goal was set at $30,000, with 25 percent of the money going to local food pantries, while the rest that is collected goes to other food pantries worldwide.
