Yearly food drop at Granger Community Church set to support 6,400 local families

GRANGER, Ind. -- Food Supplies to support over 6,400 families will be going to 18 local food pantries/ nonprofits. three homeless shelters and ten neighborhoods across Michiana to meet the great need that exist this time of year.

The Food Drop is coordinated through a partnership with Granger Community Church, IRBN Foods, Lippert Components and the Food Bank of Nothern Indiana. 

About 1,500 volunteers are expected to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday Jan 25. at one of the two locations:

GCC's Granger Campus, 630 East University Drive, Granger

GCC's Elkhart Campus, 2701 East Bristol Street, Elkhart

Volunteers will work together to pack and load boxes of food onto trucks and semi-trailers for delivery to local food pantries and neighborhoods.

Other local organizations that are partnering together to make this event a success: Welch Packaging, Blusky Restoration Services, Catholic Charites, Mccormick Motors, Zolman Tire, TB2 Shop LLC and Norco Industries.

The following organizations will help coordinate food distribution through their agencies:

In South Bend: Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Hope Ministries, Center for the Homeless, El Campito & Catholic Charities.
In Mishawaka: MAC Food Pantry
In Elkhart: Church Community Services, Faith Mission, The Window, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Susanna’s Kitchen & Gymtown Food Pantry
In Goshen: The Window
In Cassopolis: Helping Hands of Cass County
In Edwardsburg: Edwardsburg Food Pantry
In Niles: Christian Service Center
In Nappanee: The Center - Family Christian Development Center, Open Door Food Pantry
In Buchanan: Redbud Area Ministries
In New Carlisle: Caring Clothing Co-op

The annual Food Drop is part of GCC’s 2024 Christmas Offering, where the church gives above and beyond to impact the community.
