Community says farewell to Jaworski’s Market

NOW: Community says farewell to Jaworski’s Market

CRUMSTOWN, Ind. — The community staple, Jaworski’s Market, hosted day one of a close out sale Fri., where hundreds of community members came out throughout the day to say goodbye, as the owning family announced they will be stepping away from the business following the Nov. passing of the owner, Chris Jaworski.

The family-owned market and butchers' shop was founded in 1997 by Jaworski and quickly became the talk of the town due to their meats, such as jerky and polish sausage. Paul Kolloff is a Niles resident who has been making the trip to Jaworski’s Market for years, just as his parents did.

“It’s a shame that… there’s nobody to take this store over because if you come over and see some of the cuts of meat and stuff that he has here, he is fantastic and… is a big icon,” said Kolloff.

Similarly, Jaworski’s Market was also a part of married couple Brenda and Ronald Sullivan’s routine. Ronald said Jaworski made a lasting legacy on customers before he passed away peacefully.

“I bring all the guys from work here and we get jerky… so it was a shock to me. He was a good guy though, he was a real good guy,” said Ronald.

Like many, Brenda said she hopes Jaworski’s Market has a future, because it’s hard saying goodbye to a business that has become so engraved in everyone’s family.

“It’s gonna definitely be missed we’re just hoping that somebody will, in the community, take over the business, that would be really great you know,” said Brenda.

Jaworski’s Market is located at 58413 Crumstown Highway, and the sale will continue on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
