LA PORTE, Ind. -- U.S. 35/ Indiana Ave. has reopened in La Porte Friday afternoon.

Work on the road included reconstructing the intersection of U.S. 35 and Kingsbury Ave./Woodlawn Dr. as well as some utility work.

Road reconstruction on the north end of the project area and S.R. 2/Lincolnway is scheduled for 2026.

There is still work left to complete for the project, so U.S. 35 may close for the next phase of construction as early as mid-February if weather permits.

Be alert and aware of any crews who may be on site.

Due to the short timeframe that U.S. 35 will be reopened for through traffic, the U.S. 6, S.R. 39, and S.R. 2 detour will remain in place for truck traffic even after U.S. 35 reopens.

It is advised that drivers continue to utilize the detour.
