Woman arrested for OWI after crashing into home

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the 50000 block of 63rd Avenue in Lawrence Township around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, for an incident involving a vehicle crashing into a house.

Upon arrival, authorities say they found the vehicle and driver outside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as a 21-year-old Paw Paw woman, was uninjured.

Deputies then made contact with the homeowners who were outside at the time of the crash.

The report states the vehicle, described as an SUV, was traveling on 63rd Avenue when the driver lost control while maneuvering a curve in the roadway.

That's when deputies say the vehicle drove into a portion of the home.

During the investigation, authorities say it was determined the woman had been consuming alcohol before the crash.

Authorities say they developed enough evidence to charge the driver with operating while intoxicated.

She was then arrested and taken to the Van Buren County Jail pending arraignment.
