Whirlpool hosts fourth annual 'Day of Impact" at Morton Park
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- This afternoon dozens of volunteers from the Whirlpool Corporation stepped away from their desks and got to work on a public park in Benton Harbor.
Volunteers gathered at Morton Park, right in front of the old Bobo Brazil Community Center on Main Street today, cleaning up and making improvements the park needed with a long history in the city.
"It's actually a very beautiful park to begin with, but I think it'll be even better once we, you know, we finish with it here," stated Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Whirlpool Corporation Jim Peters.
The foundation in the middle of the park is also back up and running tonight, thanks to the fourth annual Whirlpool 'Day of Impact', in the company's hometown.
"One thing that we've learned in renovating our parks is when you have good parks, you have healthy communities because they go hand in hand when people can access recreate or have recreation, walking paths, trails, cleanliness, beauty, it impacts the health of this community," stated Mayor of Benton Harbor Marcus Muhammad.
