Wednesday night crash sends one to hospital in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to C.R. 18 and C.R. 23 for a two-vehicle crash around 5:56 p.m., Wednesday.

The report states a 2011 Chevy Silverado, driven by 22-year-old Andrew Lengacher of Goshen, was traveling west on C.R. 18 waiting to make a left turn onto C.R. 23.

Authorities say a 2011 Toyota Prius, driven by 24-year-old Madison Coleman of Goshen, was traveling east on C.R. 18 and continuing straight.

Deputies say that's when Lengacher turned left colliding with Coleman.

Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Lengacher was cleared at the scene by Jefferson Township Fire Department.

Coleman was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for a nosebleed due to the airbag deployment.

Lengacher was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
