SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Walmart on Portage Road in South Bend will close its doors for good in April, according to officials with the company.
The store's last days of operation will be April 21. The pharmacy will also close on April 21.
Pharmacy staff will work with customers to transfer prescriptions to the most convenient location.
According to Felicia McCranie, the Communications Director for Walmart in the North and East, the decision to close the Portage Road location came after a thorough review process.
That Walmart does not perform as well as the company hoped but ultimately, several factors play into the decision to close it, she said.
“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Portage Road location. We look forward to serving them at our other stores in the surrounding communities and on walmart.com.”
