Visitation begins for Rep. Jackie Walorski
GRANGER, Ind. -- Visitation for Rep. Jackie Walorski began at noon Wednesday at Granger Community Church on University Drive.
The solemn morning began with Rep. Walorski's casket traveling from Palmer Funeral Homes to Granger Community Church for the visitation, which was scheduled for noon to 7 p.m.
Just before the visitation began, mourners lined up outside the church, waiting to pay their respects.
Longtime Walorski Supporter JB Brown says he was emotional as he waited in line.
“She was a very good friend of our family's, and she did a lot for our community obviously and our country,' Brown said.
Visitation was a chance for those who knew her - or never met her - to honor her.
“I actually did not know Jackie Walorski at all but after hearing about her on the radio she had a very nice heart. Very kind. It brought me to tears and I wanted to pay my respects," Ja'Schanna Page said.
“I didn’t know her but I felt like I was related to her. Or her friend. And I am her friend and I will be her friend," Dianne Fenner said.
Walorski spent decades in service to her community and made an impression on those she met along the way.
“She had respect for the people and she had a warmth like I’ve heard before and it’s true. She would enter a room, she'd light up the room," Royce Stoltzfus said.
“She’s going to be greatly deeply missed for the professionalism and the love and the amount of love she had in her soul for this community and for our country," Brown said.
Rep. Walorski's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at Granger Community Church. Click here for more information
