A sloppy, wintry day, Thursday
NILES, Mich. -- The Experimental Aircraft Association brought the first-ever mass produced airliner to Niles on Thursday.
From 1926 through 1933, Ford Motor Company built 199 Tri-Motor aircraft.
“This airplane was built in 1929. It’s one of 199 Ford Tri-Motors that were manufactured by Ford motor company a chance to experience living history for me,” pilot Gerry Flaugher said.
Guests gathered at the Jerry Tyler Memorial Airport to see different planes that were built in the 1900s and some were able to take a ride on them.
The event will take place through Sunday May 26.
