Victim identified in December 4 fatal car crash on C.R. 500 E

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. – A 17-year-old has been identified as the victim in a fatal car crash that happened on December 4 along C.R. 500 E, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 5:25 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle crash on C.R. 500 E, about a half-mile north of C.R. 650 N in Tippecanoe Township.

A passerby reported seeing a vehicle with significant fire damage, according to reports.

An investigation into the incident shows that a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling north on C.R. 500 E when the vehicle left the east side of the road and hit a tree.

There was heavy fog in the area at the time.

The driver and sole occupant of the Cruze, identified as 17-year-old Makensie Thomas of Syracuse, died in the incident.
