Vehicle at Elkhart landfill catches fire

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A vehicle at the Elkhart County Landfill on CR 7 caught fire Wednesday just before noon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.

The hauler truck, owned by American Waste, was parked at the top of the landfill when the cab of the truck caught fire.

The fire was extinguished quickly by the Concord Fire Department.

Deputies said the fire did not spread beyond the truck.

There were no injuries and the fire did not interrupt landfill operations.

The sheriff's office said there were not hazardous materials in the truck.
