19-year-old charged with threatening to bomb school and stab school nurse

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Prosecutor's office announced a 19-year-old is facing multiple charges in connection knife and bomb threats against local schools.

Court documents reveal 19-year-old Adam Beechler is charged with Falsely Reporting a Bomb Threat, a Felony, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a Felony, Possession of a Weapon on School Property, a Misdemeanor, and Intentional Threat at a School, a Misdemeanor.

On Feb. 25, the officers with the Buchanan Police Department responded to Buchanan High School where staff informed them Beechler had brought a knife to school and threatened people with it.

The probable cause affidavit states Beechler allegedly told a witness he was going to use the knife on a school nurse if she refused to have children with him.

When police spoke with Beechler, he told police, "I messed up," according to case documents. When an officer asked what he meant by that, documents state he responded, "I brought a knife."

Police retrieved an approximately 10-inch-long steak knife from Beechler's person.

Beechler allegedly admitted he had a crush on the school nurse, and he was going to ask her to have kids with him. Documents state Beechler also admitted he brought gloves so his fingerprints wouldn’t be on the knife in case things didn't go his way.

After speaking with the nurse, police learned she didn’t have any interactions with Beechler that day, but he would often see her for minor issues.

On March 18, officers with the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety responded to Corewell Health on Napier Avenue around 10:31 a.m. regarding Beechler, who was a patient int the behavioral unit.

Beechler had allegedly made bomb threats to the Lighthouse Education Center on Glenlord Road.

Case documents state Beechler had made threats to find an individual who he found out was dating his ex-girlfriend.

Police spoke with a therapist who said they witnessed Beechler making the alleged threats to bomb the Lighthouse Center to "teach the individual a lesson."

The probable cause affidavit states Beechler admitted to saying he was going to teach the individual a lesson, including mentioned uses of bombs and swords, but that he didn't mean any of it.

Beechler allegedly told investigators he was going to fight this person if he had to, to teach him a lesson not to mess with people he loves.

Beechler told police he didn't know who the individual was or what they looked like, and that he no longer wanted to do the things he was going to do.
