ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on C.R. 40 west of C.R. 21 around 12:55 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say a 2002 Toyota RAV4, driven by a currently unknown person, was traveling west on C.R. 40.

The report states at the same time, a 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 24-year-old Goshen man, was traveling east on C.R. 40.

Deputies say the RAV4 then went left of center, causing a head-on crash with the Rogue.

The RAV4's driver then fled the crash scene on foot and has yet to be located.

The 24-year-old driver and his passenger, an adult woman, were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
