Two semi-trucks collide on Indiana I80/94 Thursday morning

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police troopers were called to the scene of a crash between two semi-trucks near Mile Marker 2 on I80/94 on Thursday morning.

Authorities say the call came in around 9:10 a.m. and when they arrived on scene, they found one of the semis overturned and resting on a concrete barrier.

According to authorities a white Kenworth tanker truck was headed west before getting sideswiped by a gray 2014 Freightliner, driven by 54-year-old Columbus, Ohio resident Abdi Warsame.

The Kenworth cab hit a concrete barrier wall between the eastbound and westbound lanes causing the trailer to roll over the barrier, crashing onto its side.

The driver of the Kenworth was 30-year-old Dustin Beemer of Channahon, Ill. and neither he or Warsame were injured from in the crash.

The tanker trailer was carrying coal tar and had lost some of its load in the crash. Remediation crews were issued to clean up the scene following the incident.

Both eastbound and westbound inside lanes were closed due to offloading the tanker and removing of the vehicles.
