Two injured in crash during traffic stop

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – During a traffic stop early Saturday morning, an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office squad car was rear-ended by another vehicle.

Around 2 a.m. on State Road 19, the officer had a vehicle pulled over and the driver, Tariq Ivery, in the back of his squad car.

Kenneth Donaldson then read-ended the squad car causing one of the tires to roll over the officer’s foot.

The officer and Ivery were both seen by medics.

Donaldson was arrested for driving while intoxicated and failure to move over for an emergency vehicle. He did not have any injuries and was wearing his seatbelt.

A tow truck was needed on scene due to the damage to both vehicles from the accident.
