Two injured and three vehicles damaged after vehicle fails to stop at a stop sign

ABC 57

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says they responded to a vehicle collision at approximately 12:51 p.m. on April 10 around SR 11 and County Road 7.

Officers say that the driver of a 2010 Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on County Road 7 approaching SR 119 and failed to stop at the posted stop sign, entering the intersection and colliding with another driver heading north in a 2009 Toyota Pruis. There was a third driver sitting stationary at the intersection in a 2010 Ford Escape when the Wrangler collided with the Pruis, causing the Pruis to rebound and collide with the Escapes' front bumper.

The driver of the Wrangler was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of a possible heart attack and suspected ruptured diaphragm. The driver of the Pruis and their passenger were also transported to Elkhart General Hospital for general pain in chest and shoulder, possible fractures, and possible broken pelvis. The driver of the Escape reported no injuries.

This remains an active investigation.
