Two dead, one rescued from fire in Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ind. - Two people died and one person was rescued from a house fire in Van Buren County early Thursday morning, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were called to the 44000 block of 24th Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. for the incident.

When deputies arrived, the residence was engulfed in flames. Two people inside the house, a 64-year-old woman and 66-year-old man, were found dead once the fire was put out.

A third person, who was asleep inside an unattached garage on the property, was found safe.

First responders are investigating what caused the fire.
