Tree worth thousands stolen from Cass County residence

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A larceny report was made to the Cass County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 4 regarding a large Walnut Tree that had been cut down that was stolen.

The report states that the larceny happened in the 61000 block of Old Mill Rd., Pokagon Township in Cass County and that the felled tree was valued at roughly $2,000.

"On Jan. 7, detectives responded to a location in Colon, Mich. along with St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office, on information of the suspects were attempting to sell the tree," authorities said. "The stolen tree was located and returned to the owner."

In the process of recovering the tree, a 35-year-old male was arrested on a probation violation warrant and a 51-year-old male was arrested on a parole absconder warrant.

Authorities say they are seeking charges on all suspects involved in the larceny and sale of the tree.
