Semi driver whose truck was stuck on train tracks ditched truck when he heard train whistle

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Office reports they received a call around 10:17 a.m., Monday, regarding a train crashing into a semi-truck on Linden Road south of S.R. 10.

Deputies say the semi was unoccupied and upon arrival, they met with the driver.

The driver told deputies he was traveling south on Linden Road to make a delivery around the corner when his trailer got hung up on the tracks.

He went on to say he attempted to 'air' the truck and trailer up as high as he could to clear the tracks but was unsuccessful.

The driver then called the emergency number posted on the crossing arm and reported the semi was stuck.

The driver told deputies moments later he heard a train horn, and he ran south away from the semi before it was struck.

No injuries were reported.

The semi and trailer were totaled and according to the railroad company, the engine was also totaled.
