Traffic stop in LaPorte County leads to drug seizure

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind.—A traffic stop in LaPorte County on February 11 resulted in an arrest and drug seizure, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy was working along the Indiana Toll Road on February 11 as part of a Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) program.

The deputy observed a vehicle near the mile 53 marker commit several traffic violations around 3:22 p.m., police said.

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as Zhaoyao Luo, 31, of Sacramento, California, reports said.

Another deputy and K-9 deputy Bosco then arrived to assist.

Police said a “large quantity of illegal drugs was located,” during the traffic stop.

Luo was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail on suspicion of dealing/ delivery of marijuana, reports said. He is being held on a $15,005 cash-only bond.
