SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend Department of Public Works says the following traffic alerts will begin on March 30, weather permitting.

Colfax Avenue

• Beginning March 30, the eastbound lane of Colfax Avenue from Niles Avenue to Hill Street will close for water and sewer line work. The detour route will be LaSalle Avenue via Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard or Eddy Street. The eastbound lane is expected to reopen end of day, April 3, weather permitting.

Madison Street

• Also starting March 30, Madison Street between Michigan and Main streets will close due to construction on the Madison Lifestyle District Project. The detour route is LaSalle Avenue via Main or Michigan streets. The closure will be in effect through December 31, 2027.
