Touch-A-Truck event at Studebaker Museum Saturday

Studebaker National Museum

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum are inviting families to a day of hands-on fun at their inaugural Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The museums will turn their parking lot and Thomas Street into a vehicle showcase, which will include a variety of first-responders, big rigs, service trucks, and utility vehicles.

Kids will have the opportunity to explore the vehicles up close, meet the people who operate them, and climb inside to honk the horn.

Organizers say there will also be special hands-on history displays including fossils, a Lego racetrack, and more.

The South Bend Children’s Museum will also have activities on-site.

Admission is free and includes full access to both The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum.

To ensure the event is welcoming to all, organizers say there will be a sensory-friendly hour offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., during which flashing lights and loud noises will be minimized to support guests with sensory sensitivities.

The museums are located at 895 Thomas St.

Regular campus hours are Monday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
