Tolson Center holds Black History Month program highlighting Black Greek Letter Organizations

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Tolson Center for Community Excellence announced it will hold its second annual Black History Month program on Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The event, held in collaboration with the National Pan-Hellenic Council of South Bend, will highlight the contributions of Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs) and their impact on American history.

Organizers say BGLOs have a tradition of fostering academic excellence, leadership development, and social activism.

They add that their influence has helped shape the cultural, political, and social landscape of the U.S.

“We are excited to bring the community together to celebrate the important role of Black Greek Letter Organizations,” said Breanna Allen Executive Director of the Tolson Center for Community Excellence. “Their dedication to social change, education, and service reflects the values we hold dear at Tolson, and we are honored to share their stories during Black History Month.”

The event will feature guest speakers, presentations, and performances, including remarks from the president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council of South Bend.

Organizers say this family-friendly program is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.

The Tolson Center is located at1320 Benham Ave. in Elkhart.
