Three Rivers man arrested on several warrants in Sturgis

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested on several warrants on Tuesday after allegedly being found with a vehicle reported stolen out of Elkhart, the Sturgis Department of Public Safety reported.

At 8 p.m., Sturgis police arrived to the 1000 block of Cato Lane for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When officers arrived, they located the vehicle and found it had been reported stolen out of Elkhart a few days prior.

As officers approached the vehicle, a man ran out of it and into a nearby apartment, according to reports.

Police got a search warrant for the apartment and took the man into custody without further incident.

During the search warrant, officers found an AK-47-style rifle, reports said.

The man, a 30-year-old from Three Rivers, was arrested on nine active warrants as well as felony firearms, possession of stolen property, and resisting and obstructing law enforcement.

The suspect is at the St. Joseph County Jail pending arraignment.
