Three people arrested in connection to warehouse burglary

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Today at around approximately 5:45 a.m. the South Bend Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Olive Road (Hilti Distribution Center) to investigate a business alarm that had gone off.

Upon arriving police observed a U-Haul leaving the warehouse. Police began following the truck, which then began driving erratically, which resulted in police initiating a traffic stop.

The U-Haul did not stop, which led to a vehicle pursuit on U.S. 20, which ended with the U-Haul crashing around the area of U.S. 20 and Rosewood Road in Saint Joseph County.

Upon crashing, three male occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee.

With the assistance of the New Carlisle Police Department, the three men, 26-year-old Marquell Strickland, 22-year-old Darvel Grady, and 22-year-old Areon Halloway were taken into custody.

Discovered in the U-Haul were numerous tools from Hilti Distribution Center that were valued to be worth over $61,000.

The three men were transported to the Saint Joseph County Jail on preliminary charges related to this incident.

They await formal charging decisions from the Saint Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

This investigation remains under investigation.
