This months First Friday full of fun for furry friends

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It’s the first Friday in June which means First Friday in downtown South Bend has something for you and your four legged friends, along with the usual food, drink and shopping specials.

This month there’s a hunt and sniff scavenger hunt, an agility course, even a chance to rescue a shelter dog.

The main event in front of the old College Football Hall of Fame is the Second Annual Ugly Dog Contest. It’s from 7-8 p.m. on the gridiron.

This year, the contest is not exclusive to the faces only an owner could love.

Awards will be bestowed on pooches for best trick, cutest puppy, dog who looks most like their owner, most unusual markings, Mr. and Ms. Congeniality and the grand prize – ugliest.

"Everyone come out and join the fun tonight. We're going to have a lot of great prizes we're giving away.  We have some sponsors that have joined us with Silver Hawks tickets to give away, we have some tickets to the first taste of Drewrys event coming up in August. And also some great things from chocolate café and Made in Michiana and Imagine That,” said Dan Blacharski, President of Ugly Dog Media.

The fun downtown continues until 9 p.m.
