Local man dies at work from 'injuries not compatible with life' Friday
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Coroner's Office is reporting a work-place fatality, the second of its kind in Michiana this week, at the Hoosier and Rubber Corp. on the morning of Feb. 7.
At approximately 12:26 a.m., at 2307 Pidco Drive in Plymouth, a report was made for an unresponsive male trapped in a machine.
"Upon Fire and EMS arrival this male identified as Marshall Hunt, 30-years of age with injuries not compatible with life," the Marshall County Coroner's Office said. "Upon arrival of the coroner's staff the male was pronounced dead."
According to St. John's Hospital Clinical Resources, injures where the state of the body is incompatible with life include extensive trauma that has caused decapitation, severance of the torso, disruption of a vital organ (e.g. brain), or fragmentation of the body.
It can also mean well established decomposition has caused extensive discoloration of the skin, bloating of the body, and, in some cases, larval infestation and partial exposure of bones, or advanced decomposition has exposed most of the skeleton, so called “skeletal remains”.
An investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy will be performed on Saturday.
