SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department held its inaugural community track and field showcase at the LaSalle Academy.
The New summer camp features youth track teams from both South Bend and Mishawka.
People from all throughout the community made up two teams facing off in a friendly game of scrimmage, with plans for next year already in the works.
"There will definitely be another one next year it will be even bigger, larger, greater. This is something that we plan on doing every year and to continue doing it. Continue building those relationships with the community with other track teams, police departments and athletes," stated South Bend Police Officer Georgia Wells.
The event also highlighted sprinting, long jumps, discus, and shotput.
