MISHIWAKA,Ind.-- The Mishawaka Common Council approves plans for a new Casey's located on the corner of Douglas and Fir Road.
The Casey's would be within close proximity of the Juday Creek Wellfield and Water Treatment Plant.
Some worry there's too great of a risk to the water supply. Recently the city made a $40 million investment into the long-term security of the water.
Mishawaka Mayor, Dave Wood, criticized the potential location of the proposed development.
"I believe in responsible growth and development that prioritizes the health and well-being of our community. while economic development is important, it should not come at the expense of our essential natural resources." said Wood.
