ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – The Tolson Community Center in Elkhart is only $800 thousand away from a fundraising goal of $11.5 million, thanks to a $2 million grant.
The Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment foundation awarded The Community Foundation of Elkhart with this grant in order to help renovate the Tolson Center and expand the facility into the new “Tolson Center for Community Excellence.”
The Tolson Community Center has already raised $1.7 million in local donations, and received $5 million from the City of Elkhart.
Candy Yoder, Chief Program Officer for the Community Foundation of Elkhart County and board member of the Tolson Center, spoke with ABC57’s Brian Conybeare about what’s in store for the center.
