The Empty Bowl Project returns for another year in Goshen
GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen First Church held their Empty Bowl Project this evening, an annual event that raises money for First Light Mission Shelter.
The Event is in collaboration with The Goshen Clay Artists Guild, who handmake the bowls that 20 Goshen area restaurants provide soup to eat in.
The church began the events back in the 2000s, providing warm meals to anyone who asks, all while raising money for an amazing cause.
"So, it's a huge fundraising for us, but it's also a really big community that before we opened our doors, the line went down the block and through the parking lot. It's just really neat to see the community come out. And everybody looks forward to it. They look forward to the uniqueness of the bowls and just coming out and being community. So, it's we had 100 gallons of soup donated by various restaurants, and then it's, like I said, a huge benefit for our shelter that is seeing all time high numbers right now," stated Executive Director for First Light Mission Mindy Morehead.
Goshen Clay Artists Guild created between 400 and 500 bowls for this event.
