The Barker Mansion celebrating Christmas season with events throughout November
The Barker Mansion MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- With the Christmas season arriving soon, cultural center The Barker Mansion is hosting a month of programs and festive celebrations for all ages.
The Barker Mansion will present its 2025 Christmas Opening Saturday and Sunday, featuring holiday décor, including lights, ornaments, and seasonal greenery.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, The Gilded Page Book Club will meet at The Barker Mansion to discuss Ragtime, by E.L. Doctorow, a novel that centers on a family living in early 20th century New York and featuring a variety of historical figures.
The event, hosted by the mansion's Events Coordinator Craig Golbesky, will feature rare pieces from the Barker family collection, a whiskey tasting from Journeyman Distillery, and a self-guided tour of the mansion.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, Danielle Adams, the Director of the La Porte County Historical Society Museum, will put on a special presentation focused on local history. The event, History Hour: In His Own Words, will focus on the W.A. Jones Collection of Ancient Weapons, including Jones' own 1910s card catalogue.
The Barker Mansion is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and is open for an hour longer on Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m.
