Teen driver switches seats with passenger while being pulled over

Mason Markley

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Plymouth Police Department reports officers made a traffic stop on May 15 around 8:26 p.m. in the area of US 30 E and Pioneer Drive.

Police say the officers attempted to make a traffic stop after a vehicle's plate came back as the registered owner was suspended infraction.

The report states officers confirmed the registered owner was driving the vehicle.

Authorities say while attempting to conduct the traffic stop, the suspect vehicle cut off a box truck causing the truck driver to hit their brakes. The vehicle continued and didn't stop right away.

The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Mason Markley of Grabill, Ind., had a female passenger in the vehicle, who police say the driver began switching places with while moving.

The report states at this time, the vehicle nearly rear-ended a truck pulling cars.

The vehicle then stopped at US 30 and Oak Drive.

Markley was arrested for Reckless Driving.

The female passenger was also found to have suspended infractions.

Markley was taken to Marshall County Jail and given a court date and bond.

Markley's vehicle was then towed.
