Teen bicyclist injured in hit and run, suspect arrested

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 17-year-old bicyclist was injured in a hit and run crash on CR7 early Tuesday morning, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the female bicyclist was traveling on CR7 north of CR52 when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on CR 7 at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Elkhart Police released a description of the suspect vehicle in an attempt to locate the driver.
Late Tuesday afternoon police announced 49-year-old Gerardo Fuentes Cortez had been taken into custody. He is facing a charge of leaving the scene of a serious bodily injury crash.
