Tailgate Traditions: Saturday morning mass and Victory March

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - When head coach Marcus Freeman first visited Notre Dame's campus as a recruit 20 years ago, one thing that made an impression on him was Saturday mass held at the Basilica prior to kickoff.

Though mass was switched to Fridays during Brian Kelly's time with the Irish, it was recently switched back to Saturdays at the request of Coach Freeman.

With the switch comes a change to the Players Walk route, which was renamed to the Victory March this season.

Following mass, the Irish will leave the Basilica through the God, Country, Notre Dame door. Players will pass by Washington Hall, the LaFortune Student Center, the Nieuwland Science Hall, and the Hesburgh Library on their way to the stadium.

During the march, fans are encouraged to line the route and cheer on the team.

Coach Freeman will address fans in front of the library.

The Victory March will also include performances by the Notre Dame Glee Club and the Notre Dame Bagpipe Band.
