St. Joseph County Jail SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- One man is charged in a 2022 shooting in South Bend that left one person hurt.
Hardin Lanier is charged with Aggravated Battery posing a substantial risk of death and Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon - both felonies.
The alleged incident happened in March 2022. Investigators say officers were called to a home on the 1000 block of De Maude Avenue upon report of a gunshot and a woman screaming. Court documents say the victim was shot in the chest and taken to Memorial Hospital.
After speaking to witnesses, officers determined that Lanier got into an argument with the victim before shooting him. Officials say security footage obtained by officers reportedly backs that narrative up.
Lanier is due in court November 9.
