Suspect in custody after Saturday morning stabbing in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -- A 20-year-old man is currently in custody in relation to a non-fatal stabbing that happened in the 300 block of Wagner Ave. on the morning of Nov. 15. 

According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of the Washington Garden apartments at about 5:51 a.m. on Saturday morning. 

The caller reported two suspicious males walking in the area, and while searching, officers were approached by a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound.

"Officers called for an ambulance and rendered aid until medics arrived," EPD said. "Medics transported the 19-year-old victim for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries."

Officers were able to apprehend and detain 20-year-old Quantrell Arshawn Moore, of Elkhart, near the 326 Wagner Ave. building shortly after.

Moore was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on a preliminary charge of Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony.

Moore’s bond is set at $25,000, and this case has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges.
