ELKHART, Ind. -- A brief stolen vehicle pursuit ended with the suspect crashing into a house Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Osolo Road.

The Elkhart Police Department reports a man called 911 around 12:25 p.m., claiming a man stole his Chevy Tahoe from the 900 block of Grove Street.

The caller told authorities he had an AirTag in the vehicle and was able to update its location to the dispatcher.

An EPD officer soon located the suspect and vehicle at a gas station near C.R. 6 East and C.R. 11.

The suspect then fled in the Tahoe before police could make a traffic stop.

Police say the suspect fled south on C.R. 11.

Other responding officers traveling to the scene were passed by the suspect at which point a brief pursuit began.

An officer deployed stop sticks near Park Place and C.R. 11/Osolo Road, successfully disabling at least one of the suspect's tires.

The Tahoe crashed into a nearby home shortly after.

The suspect driver, a man in his early 50s, was ejected from the Tahoe in the collision.

Medics on scene rendered aid to the man before being taken to Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The house, which was unoccupied, sustained what is described as non-structural damage.

No other injuries have been reported in this incident.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the crash reconstruction and investigation.

EPD detectives are investigating and will forward this case to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
