UPDATE: Man arrested in connection to weekend shooting in South Bend

UPDATE: South Bend Police Department officials say 47-year-old Alfonso Escobedo Prieto was arrested and charged in this shooting.

According to a new release, the victim was a male. No further information about his injuries nor his current status were released.

Escobedo Prieto is in custody at the St. Joseph County Jail; he's charged with Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- At least one person was injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the 2900 block of E. Mishawaka Avenue.

The South Bend Police Department confirmed the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. near S. 29th Street.

Police arrived to find one person injured.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released details of the injuries.
