CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The preliminary autopsy of a Cass County man who died in a hit-and-run is complete.

A report conducted by the Western Michigan University School of Medicine says the preliminary autopsy of 24-year-old Timothy Johnson gives strong indication of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle. The cause of death was ruled as multiple blunt force injuries; the exact manner of death was not determined.

The suspect in the fatal hit-and-run, Enrique Bejarano Martinez, is charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death, a Felony, Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident - When at Fault - Result in Death, a Felony, and Tampering with Evidence, a Felony, according to court filings in Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office was called for a welfare check on Johnson on May 23.

On May 24, Johnson was found dead on the side M-152 near Dowagiac.

Authorities say the hit-and-run actually occurred on May 21, around 5:31 am.

Investigators say Johnson was walking east on M-152 near Pleasant Street in Silvercreek Township when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling east.
