SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- With just a week left until Election Day, thousands of Hoosiers have already cast their vote.
The line Tuesday afternoon wrapped around First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, as it has been consistently, nearing Election Day.
"Be prepared to wait in line. I hope with the turnout we are having now; I'm hoping what will be there on Election Day is a little bit less, but we're still going to have a high turnout, and this could be one of the highest turnouts an Election in Elkhart County has ever had,” said Chris Anderson the Elkhart County Clerk.
As of 1:45PM Tuesday afternoon Elkhart County was just shy of 20,000 in person voters compared to 32,000 total early voters in 2020 during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The St. Joseph County polling centers are also seeing lines and a strong turnout, already approaching more than a third of the total turnout in 2020.
"Of course, the numbers change minute by minute as you can see with the voters that we have but a rough ballpark number for the people that have voted early in person is about 31,000 and we have about 8000 that have returned their absentee ballot by mail so that's a good turnout for what we were expecting,” said Amy Rofles St. Joseph County Clerk.
Early in person voting is available through Monday November 4th.
