SOUTH BEND, Ind — Officials confirmed that officers are investigating after they received a call about a stabbing on High Street in South Bend.
Dispatch says the stabbing happened in the 1600 block of High Street in South Bend around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. When we got there, police were arresting 29-year-old Jeffery Burnside of South Bend. Dispatch says there was one victim but did not give details on their condition.
ABC57's Andrea Alvarez spoke with a woman outside of the home where the incident happened who says it was her two grandsons who got into a fight and that's how the incident unfolded.
That incident happened right across the street and just feet away from Studebaker school and just one block from two other schools in that area.
The reported stabbing comes less than 24 hours after South Bend community leaders held a joint press conference to help stop crime after a rash of violence this past week.
In this case, Burnside was charged with 1 count of Domestic Battery from a warrant and 1 count of Aggravated Battery from the stabbing incident.
