St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education President Barry Conybeare announces resignation
ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The president of the St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education Barry Conybeare has announced his resignation at Monday's board meeting.
“Serving on the Board for the past eight years has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life,” Conybeare said in a statement. “I’m profoundly grateful for the educators, students, board members, and community who make St. Joseph Public Schools such a special place. While I’m stepping away, I will always be an advocate for public education and the incredible potential it holds for every child.”
According to the St Joseph Public Schools Board of Education, Conybeare's provided the district with outstanding leadership and was able to effectively and successfully navigate challenges such as the global pandemic. He also supported the district by creating sustainable strategic planning processes as well as a "four-year strategic plan committed to continued academic excellence."
"President Conybeare’s contributions to our district have been invaluable," Superintendent Kristen Bawks said. "His vision, tireless dedication, and passion for public education have positively impacted St. Joseph Public Schools and will continue to for years to come.”
The district is now looking for Conybeare's replacement and invites interested and qualified candidates to submit a notice of interest in writing to the Board Secretary, Amy Marohn.
