Notre Dame to reinstate standardized testing requirement for undergrad applications

ABC 57

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Prospective undergraduate students at Notre Dame will now be required to submit standardized test scores.

The university announced the return of the requirement, beginning in the 2027-28 admission cycle. First-year and transfer applicants will need to submit either an ACT or SAT score.

According to a press release, a review of the university's admissions data confirmed that standardized test scores show a strong correlation between test scores and classroom performance.

Officials say this change does not alter the nature of the admissions process; the university says test scores will still be one of many things it considers when accepting students.
