St. Joe County turning to residents for new park design
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A new County Park located in Granger on Anderson Road is being developed and the county is looking for public input on park services and amenities.
Officials from St. Joseph County and the parks department, as well as local design firm DLZ, are leading the project, hosting three public open houses to receive feedback.
“We’ve gone through years and years of, you know, trying to look at different options to fund it and this opportunity came along where there were some bonds that were retiring and this was an opportunity to issue a park bond, which we haven’t done a park bond in 40 years since we developed Ferrettie-Baugo Creek County Park, so it’s exciting to finally get to that point where we can develop,” said Saint Joseph County Parks Department Executive Director, Steve Slauson.
All of the open houses are held at Discovery Middle School from 6-8pm. The next is set for April 24, where they will bring concept ideas gathered from the survey and first open house.
The last open house will be May 29, where they will bring final site plans for the public to see before construction begins.
The Saint Joseph County Parks Survey is only open during the initial feedback process, so if you would like to submit your thoughts before the link closes on March 23 at midnight, click here.
