SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 34-year-old Niles man will spend a decade in prison after pleading guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or more of Methamphetamine.

The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana reports on Sept. 23, Robert Newton was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

Court documents reveal Newton was driving through Michigan City when police pulled him over for a traffic violation.

Police then found three baggies containing a total of about 59.5 grams of methamphetamine hidden in the back hatch of Newton’s rental car.
